HONOR FLIGHT 2024
September 26th - 30th, 2024
Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is with immense pride and gratitude that we gather here today to welcome home our esteemed veterans and their dedicated guardians from the September South Willamette Valley Honor Flight.
This journey was not just a trip; it was a heartfelt tribute to the bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering spirit of our heroes.
Over the past few days, 58 veterans and 58 guardians embarked on an incredible journey, covering 4,604 miles by air and traveling over 300 miles by bus. Together, we visited 10 museums in just 2 days, each stop a poignant reminder of the rich history and profound legacy of our armed forces.
Our journey was filled with moments of reflection, camaraderie, and deep appreciation. We were privileged to witness the awe and reverence in the eyes of our veterans as they revisited the stories and memories that shaped their lives and our nation’s history. Each museum visit was a testament to their courage and the enduring impact of their service.
One of the highlights of our trip was the fabulous dinner at the Loudon Elks Lodge in Herndon, Virginia. The warmth and hospitality we received there were truly heartwarming. It was a night of celebration, where stories were shared, bonds were strengthened, and the spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood was palpable.
To our veterans, thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your unwavering dedication to our country. You are the true embodiment of honor and valor. To our guardians, thank you for your support, your care, and your commitment to ensuring that our veterans had an unforgettable experience.
As we return home, let us carry forward the spirit of this journey. Let us continue to honor and support our veterans, not just through events like these, but in our everyday actions and interactions. Let us remember that the freedoms we enjoy today are because of the sacrifices made by these brave men and women.
Welcome home and thank you for allowing us to be a part of this incredible journey. Together, we have created memories that will last a lifetime.
Thank you.
